Daniel Jack Lyons is a New York based photographer who got his start as a queer artist/activist in a punk band, until the band broke up and he moved to Africa (Mozambique). He remained in Mozambique for four years, taking photos and working on various human rights initiatives, until eventually moving to New York. He has been commissioned to work with marginalized populations in developing countries around the world and has held solo exhibits in New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, and Kiev. His process is informed by the joint intersection of working as a photo based artist and his formal training/experiences in human rights research and activism. He is a frequent contributor to the Huffington Post, and has been featured in publications such as Vanity Fair, Interview Magazine, and The Guardian.
